WHY HELP?

Many people in underserved communities are unable to afford items that most people would consider necessities (e.g., adequate jackets, shoes, and bedding). This problem is compounded by the fact that lack of disposable income and available savings drives up costs even further:

Unable to take advantage of bulk discounts:
Populations with less income and savings are forced to purchase items in small quantities.

Forced to frequently purchase low-cost alternatives:

Constrained budgets result in purchasing lower quality goods (especially for items that are needed immediately).  These goods are cheaper in the short-term but end up costing more in the long run due to reduced quality and product lifespan.

Those who are most in need are required to spend more than others with greater financial means. Lack of regular access to everyday items perpetuates a cycle by making it harder to focus on, and works toward, long-term goals.
